As well as the many services we offer, we regularly run projects for the benefit of the community.

In 2019 we ran a summer project with LANPAC funding. This was aimed at children and young people. We ran a slime making workshop where we learnt how to make stretchy slime and the children and young people got to take it home. We also ran a bike workshop where the children and young people learnt how to maintain their bikes to keep them safe for use as well as a bit of road safety around being out and about on their bikes. This was a two day workshop and once they had completed both days they got to keep their bikes.

As part of this project we also ran two sessions of archery which was a massive hit! We ran this session on the field at the back of Valley Street. The children and young people enjoyed every minute of it and so did the staff! There was a little bit of a competitive streak between Amanda Ellerton and Rob Richards who is from the our Lancashire team within the police. Rob thought it was fixed because Amanda won! We also made food and refreshments on both days which went down a treat.

During Christmas 2019 we had a party for children and young people, we had games, food, drink and music. All the children and young people had to wear something Christmassy and they asked staff to dress up. They made suggestions as to what we should dress up as they chose Amber to be a Christmas fairy and they all laughed and pointed at Amanda Ellerton and said “you can be the Grinch” they didn’t think Amanda would do it but she did and they loved the fact someone had dressed up and they all wanted their photo taken with the Grinch!

All the children and young people received a present each (after the grinch stopped trying to steal them). They all really enjoyed the night, many of them helped with the food and setting up and clearing up afterwards. This was thanks to the National Lottery grant we had received. All the children and young people enjoyed working together and being part of something positive and Christmassy. Everyone had a brilliant time.

These projects have been made possible through the funding we receive.
